Ho ho, my boy! We’ve struck gold! Or at least, a golden moment in Minecraft history. While I truly thought Minecraft would never mine a portal into the Playstation Network, it appears Notch would rather prove me wrong. Earlier in the week, I viewed an interview conducted towards Crazy Viking Studios in their discussion of why it’s hard to choose what games to sell on the market. Year ago, nobody even knew they wanted Minecraft, yet Notch came about and did something the market didn’t have much of and met with critical acclaim. That level of success carried on for years in Beta before finally releasing on PC. I was positive when the procedural, survival-building generator touched Microsoft’s hands, PS3 would never see its name.
That has been clearly proven wrong, as Playstation has announced that Minecraft will be arriving on PSN December 17th! Owen Hill of Mojang has answered a few questions regarding this surprising, cheerful bit of news:
Q: Does Minecraft: PS3 Edition feature everything from the other versions of Minecraft?
Minecraft: PS3 Edition comes with everything present in other console versions. They’re pretty much identical to play, and will be developed in tandem from now on.
Q: Will Minecraft: PS3 Edition feature DLC texture packs and skins?
Downloadable skins and texture packs will be available from PSN soon after release.
Q: Will there be PlayStation-specific content?
PlayStation-specific skins and texture packs would be cool! Fingers crossed, eh?
Q: Will Minecraft: PS3 Edition feature Remote Play or compatibility with the PS4 or PS Vita editions?
We don’t know yet, sorry. We’ll let you know as soon as we do.
Q: Does Herobrine feature in Minecraft: PS3 Edition?
They have announced that a PS4 version and PS Vita version of the game that sold over 30 million copies is underway, and that we can expect the loving cubed game to release sometime next year. For all the latest gaming news, protect the goldmine of information at Structure Gaming.
