Most people think the most wonderful time of the year is Christmas, here at Structure Gaming and Boom-Guard, we seem to think that football season is a little more wonderful. From the up and coming prospects of high school and college, to the success stories of the Manning brothers, and the ever entertaining adventures of Tim Tebow, football season provides us excitement, laughter, and the always important touchdown dances and pre-game shenanigans (see Ray Lewis dancing pre-game against Denver last season). There is one thing we love just as much as the season itself, and that is the efforts of EA.
For the past twenty-five years, Madden has been a staple in the gaming community and the choice of football fans worldwide. This year, the folks at EA have decided to pay tribute to twenty five years of video game football with a solid Barry Sanders cover, and meeting the demands of the community. If you haven’t caught on yet, I am talking about Madden 25’.
Connected Franchise is the new King of the Field:
Connected Career’s debuted in Madden 13’, and it offered a newer and deeper experience than any other Madden game in the past. But this year, the experience gets richer and more in-depth. This year, you are given the ability to coach, own or be the franchise player. A favorite for me was playing as a created coach. On my PS3 file, we created our friend Ramone Ward (Owner and Creator of Boom Guard) as the coach of the Patriots. As you progress through seasons and complete challenges, you gain XP for Players and Coaches. This allows you to gain new abilities and level up your players. Oh Tom Brady, you will finally be a 100 overall, compared to a minuscule 99.
Ultimate Team- Complete with Legends:
For those of you who like fantasy ball, this is awesome. The Madden Ultimate Team mode has been a lot of fun for you as well as me. I love the mode and collecting players. I also love the deep customizations this mode brings. But this year, you have the ability to pick a team captain and build a team around him. This also allows you to build around a core strength which this player possesses. I chose Robert Griffin III as my team captain and focused on the long pass game as my teams chemistry and strength. Thankfully, after realizing RGIII was not doing the trick, I picked up my number 1, Tom Brady and made things get real, super-fast.
Community Integration at its Finest:
I will be 100% honest. This review took extra time due to my level of happiness with this addition. EA has been often known to be a company that doesn’t listen to its community. But, I feel as if Madden 25 is a true labor of love. The community wanted this game. The other piece of this that makes sense to me is all of the gameplay improvements brought by the Infinity Engine and once and for all listening to us. Trust me, try to stop the read option. It’s damn challenging now.
Madden 25 is the ultimate football game. Combining the things we love the most about past Madden games, and bringing new features and overall graphic and gameplay improvements, it Is the most fitting treatment for the legendary series. If you are a longtime fan of the series, or just a football fan, this is a game that will appeal to your level of fandom. So strap on your Cheese Helmet and get ready for the most involved Madden experience ever.
Structure Gaming rates Madden 25’ a 9.5. The game was reviewed for Playstation 3 and was provided to us by the good folks at EA.
