Gaming Deals For the Week of June 18th
In these hard economic times it can be hard for starving students or graduates to fully embrace the newest video games that are released. Gaming can be an expensive hobby! So we here at Structure Gaming want to help you find, and play, the best and most fun titles that gaming has to offer, but at prices anyone can afford. So here are the Gaming Deals for the week of June 18th.
For Xbox gold members, Sonic CD was recently reduced to only 200 Microsoft Points and this game is, in my opinion, the greatest Sonic the Hedgehog game ever made. Many other titles have been reduced to commemorate Sonic’s anniversary, but Sonic CD is the game to get. It was intended to be the spiritual sequel to the original Sonic the Hedgehog, but delays in the development process and lack of Sega CD sales meant it got pushed aside. However, now is a great time to pick up this awesome retro platformer for only a few dollars.
The folks over at Good Old Games are far too good to us, and aside from offering many classic PC games at greatly reduced prices, they even give us free games! You can currently download both Worlds of Ultima 1 & 2 for absolutely free!
Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Land is an adventure game that sends you into a mysterious jungle world filled with dinosaurs and mystic tribesmen. Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams features a much different adventure, this time taking the player to an alternate version of Earth where its 1893 and you are launched from a spacecraft onto the surface of Mars. There you must survive the strange new alien world and its inhabitants, while also interacting with famous figures from the past like Thomas Edison and Theodore Roosevelt. These are both superb adventures titles from their era and offer a slice of gaming history that isn’t readily found in today’s gaming climate.
If you head on over to Gamersgate you can find tons of great titles on sale for their Indie week, like Machinarium or Cthulu Saves the World for just a few dollars apiece. However, the real reason to take a look is Amnesia: The Dark Descent for only $5! If you are a fan of horror games than this first person adventure is the ultimate experience for you. It has a masterfully crafted atmosphere that will suck you in deeper into its depths the more you play it. The game isn’t a jump-scare-fest by any means, as that would be too easy. Instead it focuses on giving you an intense sense of unease and paranoia that taunts you and make you feel helpless, while gently letting you unravel the mystery behind your strange circumstances.
And finally this week, Greenman Gaming is having a huge blowout sale on all Square Enix games for the PC. You can pick up Just Cause 2 for only $7.50, Thief and Thief II for $5 each. The former being an incredibly fun and silly sandbox game that’s a spectacular good time, and the latter being prolific stealth games that have you sneaking around medieval castles as a master rouge.
You can also purchase the original PC titles Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition for $4, the sequel Deus Ex: Invisible War for $4, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution for only $7.50! That’s the entire Deus Ex series for only $15! If you haven’t had a chance to play any of these games (especially the first and third) you seriously owe it to yourself to give them a try, and what better time than now! The narrative in these games is so politically and socially charged with science fiction and intrigue that any story obsessed gamer will be bound to enjoy them. And if you are a fan of stealth games that allow you to personalize your characters upgrades and weapon modifications, than you’re also guaranteed to have a blast. Deus Ex: Human Revolution wasn’t nominated for Game of the Year in 2011 for nothing.
And those are the gaming deals for this week, keep visiting Structure Gaming for more great Gaming Deals, Reviews, and more!
