They Came From Space…..
Want to play Mass Effect 3 a week early? You have two options to do so. Option one: pull off the amazing heist that armed thugs did in France when they got away with 6,000 copies of Modern Warfare 3. Or option two, sit by your computer and track falling copies of Mass Effect 3 via GPS like a tornado or storm chaser and hope that you’re the only one there waiting for it when it lands. I know what you’re thinking, “Both options sound insane and extremely dangerous.” I thought the same thing myself, but if I was walking through the park or the parking lot at Wal-Mart and I saw one ever so gently falling to Earth….It’s safe to say I would likely jump over, run around and maybe even push a small child out of the way to get it.
Here’s the deal, the marketing team for Mass Effect 3 has come up with this insanely brilliant idea of strapping a few copies of Mass Effect 3 with a GPS tracking system on them to weather balloons and sending them into the great beyond. Balloons will be simultaneously released in New York, San Fransisco, Las Vegas, Berlin, London and Paris. Gamers can track the balloons from MassEffect.com and try and retrieve them for their own.
Has anyone thought of the possible repercussions of this besides me? What if one of these were to land on a freeway? I can honestly see a kid running onto the freeway for a copy of ME3 that fell from the sky, hell I would run onto a freeway for it. What if it hit somebody? I’ve thrown a case like a Frisbee before and the corner cut my buddy’s forehead open like an elbow from Chuck Liddell. How about this, the last copy to be claimed is slowly falling to the ground like a feather from a cartoon; only thing is 5,000 people tracked it. I would love to see a free for all, royal rumble between thousands of gamers, geeks and nerds like myself over ONE copy of Mass Effect 3.
I highly doubt I’ll make the journey on the road to track one down, seeing how the only thing that ever flies around here is the local Sheriff Departments chopper looking for the man on the run or all the growing fields in the forest. But I can say I will tune in to and attempt to track a copy or two, just for giggles. Then again you never know, I could be saving Earth and smashing the Reaper invasion a week before any of you.
